We really enjoy the beer at HUB; it has something for everyone, which is why we go back. The bartender and staff are knowledgeable about the different brews, and they are excited to make a recommendation. Of course, we always start with the sampler (excellent price) and go from there. Also, they actually have a lager, which is rare for a local brew pub – we love lagers, especially one this good, so bonus points for that. The people are friendly and there are plenty of excellent food choices.
That said, here’s the thing about this place: It’s big, loud, usually crowded, and not the best place on a Friday or Saturday night if you want to sit down for a beer and bite with friends. The wait after 6pm is 45 minutes at best (perhaps as long before 6pm, but we haven’t made it there any earlier). It’s kid friendly, so unless you are able to find an open seat in the bar (good luck), be prepared to be surrounded by little ones. Keep in mind if your littles are “starving,” the wait for a table is too long - there were many screaming, hungry mouths about.
If you have the time on a Saturday afternoon, we highly recommend taking the 3pm pub tour with one of the brewers and stay for an early beer at the bar.
The Bottom Line: 10, 3oz sampler beer tray $8.50 + 1 Bacon, bleu cheese burger $11.50 = $20.00
Then: Pitcher of lager: $13.00!
Overall: Go for a pub tour and sampler or enjoy some of their pub fare with a lager, but if you want quiet and no kids, this is not the place.
