Tuesday August 7th:

This week’s live from the barrel series is LIVE: Sour Wheat. This NW style sour wheat ale is one of our lightest offerings. Subtle aromas of honey and light, bright lemon are noticed up front. Soft malt and a sweet, lemony tartness in the initial taste give way to hints of oak in the finish. Multiple layers of sour dance around the palate all throughout this beer. 6.5% ABV, $6.5 glass.

Tuesday July 24th:

For those of you traveling from out of town for this event, we have a special treat from the blenders in store. This week’s Tap It Tuesday live from the barrel series at 6pm is LIVE: Cherry Bourbonic Plague. We took a six-month-old Bourbonic barrel and further aged it for 24 months on sour pie cherries. Aromas of dark, tart cherries, Bourbon and spices are noticed up front. Big, rich, dark cherries, dates, oak, leather and tobacco dance on the palate. Deep cherry notes, dark fruits and a warming Bourbon flavor finish this off as only the Bourbonic can. 10.2% ABV.

Tuesday July 3rd:

Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday live from the barrel series at 6pm is a preview of our 2011 Kriek. This live NW style sour ale is a blend of red ales that were barrel aged for up to eight months before aging additionally on sour pie and Bing cherries for another eight months. Aromas of dark cherries, black currants and oak are noticed up front. Sharp, tart cherry notes, cinnamon and a hint of toasted almonds on the palate lead to bright sharp flavors of deep, rich fruit and a tart, dry finish.  This would go well with a big meal or simply be enjoyed as a night cap. 7.5% ABV, $6 a glass.

Tuesday June 19th:

Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday live from the barrel series at 6pm is Cran-Apple Crisp. This NW-style sour beer is a crisp, refreshing blend of beers that were barrel aged for seven to 12 months. Bright, sweet aromas of cranberries and apples are noticed up front. A light tartness of ripe berries and fruit sweetness intermingles on the palate, giving way to a light, sparkling bite of cranberries and apples in the finish. 9.2% ABV, $6.50 a glass.

Tuesday June 12th:

Summer is almost upon us, and we have the ideal beer to herald its arrival. This week’s Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is Orange Sorbet. This Northwest style sour ale is a Blenders’ Reserve triple ale that was aged in oak for more than three years. Aromas of tart tangerine are noticed up front. Bright, tart orange peel and sweet malts on the palate give way to a crisp, tart orange finish that lingers. This would be a nice refreshing sipper between bites of cheese, or a pleasant sour treat for a sunny day on the patio. 9% ABV, $7 glass, $2.50 taster.

Tuesday June 5th:

Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday Live from the Barrel series at 6pm is Spiced Red Apple. This Northwest sour style triple ale was barrel aged for 16 months in French oak. Aromas of deep, rich, red apple skins and light, sweet pepper notes are noticed up front. Sweet candy notes and apple skins on the palate lead to a light pepper and dry, sweet apple finish. A few of these just might have you bobbing for apples! 9.5% ABV, $6.50 glass.

Coming this week to the Raccoon Lodge & the Barrel House is a limited draft only product, Barrel Aged Bruin. This Northwest style sour bruin ale was barrel aged for 18 months in French oak. Aromas of dark sweet malts, oak and spices are the first to be noticed.  Sweet, dark candy, port and hints of vanilla appear with each sip. Look for rich sherry, oak and dark fruit notes that linger at the end. 9% ABV, $7 Glass or $2 taster.

Tuesday May 22nd:

Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday Live from the Barrel series at 6pm is Cinnamon Quad. This NW style sour ale is a blond quad that was barrel aged with cinnamon and is a blending component used in several projects, including Vlad the Imp Aler. Aromas of cinnamon with a hint of Bourbon are the first to be noticed. Rich, sweet malts, cinnamon and oak on the palate lead to a tart, slightly spicy cinnamon finish. Look for the cinnamon note to climb as this ages – think along the lines of Red Hots without the burn. 9.5% ABV, $7.50 Glass or $2.50 taster.

Tuesday May 15th:

This week’s Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is Live Red, a NW style sour red ale that was aged for four months in Bourbon barrels. Dark red wine, raisins and red grape skin aromas are noticed up front. Sweet red grapes and caramel with hints of hazelnuts roll across the palate. Bright red currants and cherries linger in the finish. There is no fruit or spicing in this beer, it’s just a double red aged on oak. 6.5 % ABV, $6 per glass.
